Abstract:

Small controlled trial. Shows that ACT is as effective as Beck's cognitive therapy for depression when presented in a group format, and that it works by a different process. Although there were no statistically significant differences in this small study between ACT and CT, on the BDI the effective size in favor of ACT at post (Cohen's d) was .53 and at follow up was .75 ... fairly large and similar to the significant effects in Zettle and Hayes, 1986.
