What membership to purchase?

Hi there,

I am interested in joining the ACBS but i am not too sure which membership would be the most appropriate. I am thinking that, as i have an undergraduate degreee in psychology and a masters degree in psychological therapy (terminal degree relevant to the purpose of the association??) and i am currently working in the NHS in Scotland as an applied psychologist, a professional memebership may be the most appropriate.

Would i be correct?

Thanks for any advice you can offer,

Kevan.

which membership

Hello Kevan,

Which membership... all of the paid memberships have roughly the same benefits, except for a few items.

Only students & professionals can vote on ACBS business. Only professionals can currently list themselves as ACT therapists.

Given your situation you are welcome to join as an affiliate or professional.

I don't think I'm letting the cat out of the bag by telling you that by 2008 we will have a "values based dues" system in place. You will select the membership you want, then pay the dues you want to. This will have a bit of a "telethon" aspect to it (I don't know if they have this is the UK, but it's basically begging for money until we reach a survivable minimum.). The idea is that those who think they get a lot out of and really want to support what ACBS is doing (with the website and conferences) will be encouraged to pay more for their membership. Those who really can't afford a lot in dues, and are just poking around can pay less. We think that when people see what all is available on the site, and what a great resource it is that they'll be happy to pay a bit more to keep this association going.

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

Thanks,
Emily Rodrigues
