What is this website about?

Welcome to ContextualPsychology.org, an online learning and research community and the official website of the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS). This site replaces and integrates the old ACT and RFT websites.

The website is mostly designed for the professional, but if you are a member of the public, you are welcome to look around or even to join our group. You can find research here, find ACT therapists, and so on. A good way to begin is to click on ACT for the Public to the left.

By joining ACBS, you will be participating in a world wide community that is dedicated to the development of a progressive psychology and related behavioral sciences more adequate to the challenge of the human condition. We are attempting to do this by fostering an open and responsible scientific culture that is non-hierarchical, self-critical, and that makes it easy for everyone to play a role. Our work is based on a scientific approach to studying psychological and behavioral phenomena that emphasizes their interactive and holistic nature, and analyzes them by considering their current and historical context, linked to a pragmatic approach to truth.

  • Association Membership provides privileged access to the site. Members are able to download files, view videos, submit new content, create pages, comment on and rate existing content, upload files to share with others, maintain personal blogs, submit events to the site calendar, list themselves as ACT therapists (Professional Members only), list themselves in the membership directory, vote in ACBS elections, and much more. With the advent of values-based dues there really is little reason not to join ACBS and pay what you honestly think membership is worth.
