Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • ACT Background and Training
  • I have attended 3 ACT training workshops (2 one-day and one 3-day workshop) with Steve Hayes between 1994 and 2003, two intensive trainings with Vijay and Anne Shankar, and a two-day workshop with Kelly Wilson as well as various ACT conference presentations. In 2004 I began teaching an ACT seminar for predoctoral clinicians at the University of Washington and began working with my private practice clients using ACT. Over the last 4 years I have also supervised individual clinical grad students who are interested in the ACT approach. Most of my formative training was in FAP, however, so my training and method of therapy includes both.
