3 day ACT Experiential and Core Skills Workshop- Steve Hayes - Reno, Nevada

Jul 25 2008 - 10:00am
Jul 27 2008 - 6:00am

Experiential & Core Skills workshop with Steve Hayes. Does not assume a lot of ACT experience.

Parking:
To be held on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno. If you are driving to UNR, here is campus parking information (you can park at meters for free on Sat. & Sun., but you'll need to get a pass on Friday). There is limited free street parking on East 9th St., east of Lake St., it's a longshot but you can try.

Hotels:
Hotels currently available for about $70 per night (the Silver Legacy is recommended) in downtown Reno (which has free shuttle access to the university). You should not need a rental car if you stay in the downtown area near the Silver Legacy/Eldorado/etc.

Transportation:
I believe that most major downtown hotels have free airport shuttles (including the Silver Legacy), but please check with them for details.

If you need to take a cab from the airport to downtown/campus, it will probably cost you around $15. If you'd like to take the bus for $2, there is bus information here.

UNR Campus Map (the university is just on the north side of downtown Reno)

Food:
We will not have hot drinks available. (This will be a small workshop, and it wasn't worth it.) However I will bring bottled water, cold coffee drinks, and a few other odds & ends. If you are a hot coffee person, please get it before arriving, or buy it on campus (there are a few coffee places, including one in the entry way of the Getchell Library open on Friday from 8am-2pm).

There is a Pepsi machine in the building, along with chip/candy bar vending.

As for lunch, there are different places available on campus. You will likely just go with your group for lunch, to one of these different eating places on/near campus. Please note the days and times the different places are open. You may need to remind Steve to stop the workshop in order to get to these while they are open. (Jimmy John's Subs, delivers)

**I encourage you to bring cash, and small bills. You may find that you'll need to split a check with others depending on where everyone eats lunch.

Schedule:
Friday- 10am - 6/7:00 pm
Saturday- 9:00am - 5/6:00
Sunday- 9:00am - 5/6:00pm

Days 1-2 will be combinations of experiential and didactic but basically no data.
Day 3 will be core skills and competencies.

Venue:
The workshop will take place on the UNR campus.
Sarah H. Fleischman Building
(aka) College of Health and Human Sciences
Room: 104 (aka the Sandra Neese Room)

You will find this building on the campus map, number 030 at the extreme southern end of campus. Check out the map here.

Charges: $100 students; $250 professionals

For and additional $20 we can offer 14 CE hours of credit from the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). Please check with your state to see if they accept these credits. (Yes, the workshop is longer than 14 hours, however... to make a long story short, we can only offer 14 CE hours.) Unfortunately other types of CEs are not available.

Bookselling:
Emily will bring a limited number of books to sell (via credit card) for a 15% discount, on Friday at 9:30-10:00am. If there is something specific you want, please check out what's available at www.contextpress.com and email her to let her know to bring a specific book for you to see.

Just email Emily Rodrigues (contextpress@nvbell.net) if you are in
and email me if you need more details (hayes@unr.edu).

***I highly recommend printing off many of the attachments/links for maps, directions, lunch places, etc.
