Dr. Robyn Walser has begun her 6 session telephone class for beginning and intermediate learning. The first class is recorded and can be listened to in preparation for session 2 on 10:00 a.m. PACIFIC on July 11. Dr. Robyn Walser will teach this group over six months. Her style is flexible, engaging and informative. The group meets monthly for one hour through December. The group is structured to maximize your learning of ACT and can include a number of things. We explore everything from initial implementation to using ACT with specific clients. We are flexible to meet the groups needs. We also provide reading material for particular topics to facilitate the learning process. Emails are also a welcome form of communication. Group size range from 6-12 people and Dr. Aptaker organizes and facilitates the group. There is some possibility of date and time changes; all efforts will be made to follow schedule.

Session 1 was recorded on June 6 and covered:
1. Group members background and goals.
2. Overview of ACT with special emphasis on the core components
3. Discuss overlap with other therapies.
4. Explore how to do informed consent from an ACT perspective.
5. Talk about existing ACT protocols
6. Beginning ACT - the how to's
7. Roleplay an informed consent with patient who is coming in for initial session.

September 26 - 9:00 a.m. Pacific, 11 a.m. Central
October 31 - 9:00 a.m. Pacific, 11 a.m. Central
No November meeting
December 5, 9:00 a.m. Pacific, 11 a.m. Central

Format for meetings will be:
1. Comments and inquiries from last session
2. Agenda setting: special issues members may want to bring up regarding ACT (please feel free to email these in advance if you so choose.
3. Move through the ACT approach and protocol.
Sessions will be both didactic and experiential (role-play of clients and may voluntarily include group member issues). The content and process will will include: willingness, defusion, present moment, self as context, values, and committed action.
