The first weekend of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy training will be an introduction to the concept. Some main definitions of ACT will be described and also ACT as a 3rd wave development in behavioural Therapy tradition and as a contemporary re-stating of the \\"Four Noble Truths\\" in Buddhist tradition. The workshop will include developing Psychological Flexibility and a lot more\:

Dr. Robyn Walser has begun her 6 session telephone class for beginning and intermediate learning. The first class is recorded and can be listened to in preparation for session 2 on 10\:00 a.m. PACIFIC on July 11. Dr. Robyn Walser will teach this group over six months. Her style is flexible\, engaging and informative. The group meets monthly for one hour through December. The group is structured to maximize your learning of ACT and can include a number of things. We explore everything from initial implementation to using ACT with specific clients. We are flexible to meet the groups needs.

Workshop Description -- Sydney Fri July 18 and Sat July 29\, 2008
This advanced 2-day clinical workshop will cover the practical application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT\, said as one word) for persons suffering from any of the major anxiety disorders and related concerns (e.g.\, anger\, depression). ACT is a newer third-generation evidence-based behavior therapy that balances mindfulness and acceptance processes with commitment and behavior change processes.
In this series of 6 classes\, participants will be introduced to and will practice the main techniques used in each of the six ACT core therapeutic processes\: Acceptance\, Experiential Aviodance\, Cognitive defusion\, Being Present in the moment\, Self as Context and Defining Valued directions. Participants may choose to attend one or all of the sessions in service of the development of their competent ACT practice. (Places are limited to 20 participants per session to maximise practical experience in the session)

Amy Murrell and I will be conducting an experiential workshop at Camp Sister Spirit July 25-27. Camp Sister Spirit about 1.5 hours north of New Orleans\, La. All lodging and meals will be included in the workshop fees. The workshop is intended to be hyper\, super\, mega advanced in nature. This workshop will be open to all students and for professionals with little (or even no) prior exposure to ACT. Given the way we teach\, building ACT from the ground up\, participants at all levels of familiarity with ACT will benefit.
