- Need some help building your web page?

If you want a short tutorial on how to build a page for your area, language group, etc. Here are some tips.

1. You must be logged into a current, paid ACBS member account. You can't build pages if you're not a member.

2. You need to open the page that it should go under. In this case: http://www.contextualpsychology.org/chapters_affiliates I recommend keeping this instructional page in one tab and the page you're working on in another tab so that you can go back and forth for reference.

3. Then at the bottom click "add child page".

4. Here's where you enter in the Title, Content, File Attachments, etc. Then at the bottom you just hit "Submit" and your page will be live.

A few things to note:

  • The person logged in, will appear as the author of the page, and your username will appear at the top of the page in blue type. Only you, the administrator, or other site editors can then edit your page. If you need to pass "authorship" of the page over to another ACBS member, contact us and we'll change "authorship" to the ACBS member you designate, then they'll be able to edit the page through their account. (this change should be used sparingly)
  • Remove all plus signs (+) from examples below to use them. I don't have the module loaded to allow me to show source code nicely, so I've added + for now.

  • To put links into your page you need to type
    1. [+[http://www.example.com|this is the source]+]
      - will present "this is the source" as a link to http://www.example.com
    1. [+[http://www.example.com]+]
      - will present "http://www.example.com" as a link to http://www.example.com
  • In case you want to do any headings within the content....

    1. to BOLD:
      <+strong>text<+/strong>
    1. to italicize:
      <+em>text<+/em>
  • If you want to dictate the URL of your page, you can change it in the edit page. (Please choose wisely, you do not want to change the page title after you have set it. If anyone has linked to your page under one name, and you change it, their links will break.) The only exception to this is the URL given by the site. For example, the ACT in Norwegian page was named http://www.contextualpsychology.org/node/3824/ by the site and now is http://www.contextualpsychology.org/ACT_pa_norsk

Both of these URLs will work (if you were to type them in to a browser), but the second one is nice to have if you want to tell someone the address (they don't need to remember numbers).

You can update the URLs on all of the pages you've made, by going to the page, then clicking Edit. Then toward the bottom you'll see "URL path settings", if you click on that it will open up a box. For example, it was in that box that I typed "ACT_pa_norsk" (do not type the quotes), to update your page's URL, then just click "submit" at the bottom.

I hope this was helpful, please let me know if you had any other questions or anything else I can help with.
