Hello ACBS!
You should have received an email about nominations, and just in case...
It’s time to make our organization ‘official’ and that means it’s time for elections…
The ACBS bylaws say:
The officers of the Association shall consist of a President, President-Elect, Past-President, Secretary-Treasurer, a student representative, and four Members-at-Large of the Board of Directors. Each shall perform the usual duties of the respective office and specific duties provided elsewhere in these Bylaws or as assigned by the Board of Directors. Elections for officers shall be held every year. The President, President-Elect, Past-President, and student representative shall each serve a one-year term and may not hold any other offices within the Association. The Members-at-Large shall be elected every two years. In each two-year cycle one of the Members-at-Large shall have a strong background and interest in basic science relevant to the purposes of the Association. The Secretary-Treasurer shall serve a three year term.
Thus, we need nominations for:
Member at Large (several!)
President or President-Elect (we will determine which slate based on preferences of
potential candidates, e.g., if someone could not carry the duties of President immediately but could
do so in a year, that person might be moved to the "President Elect" slate.
Secretary-Treasurer
And (for students only) Student rep
To send a nomination:
email pattybach@earthlink.net
use the subject heading: ACBS nomination
(failure to do so may result in delay of receipt)
Please do not send attachments.
In the body of the email write
I nominate, for the position of :
President/President Elect: Dr. R. F. T. & Dr. ACT
Member at large: Acceptance Commitment
Etc…
Try to be diverse in your thinking (seniority, nationality, gender,
area, applied/basic, etc)
Nominations must be received by March 15, 2006 (with a wee bit of wiggle room to accommodate different time zones)
Anticipatory FAQ’s….
Q: May I nominate more than one person?
A: You may nominate two people for president and president elect (that's two total - one for each position, and you do not need to specify which is which), one for secretary/treasurer , one for student representative (if you are a student member) and up to four for member at large
Q. What is the difference between President and President Elect?
A: Nothing except in a year the President will become "Past President", the President Elect
will become President, and we will be electing a new President Elect. The two slates will be determined by the preference of selected candidates, so there is no need to try to specify whether your nominee is for President or President Elect.
Q: May I nominate a student representative if I am not a student?
A: No.
Q: If I am a student, may I nominate persons for positions other than student representative?
A: Yes, you may nominate for all positions including student representative.
Q: May I nominate myself?
A: Yes
Q: May I nominate someone who is not a member of ACBS?
A: Yes, however, the nominee must become a member of ACBS before election ballots are distributed
Q: May I make nominations if I am an ACBS affiliate?
A: No, and I apologize if you received an email in error.
Q: I would like to Nominate Steve Hayes for every position; is this okay?
A: No, you may only nominate any individual for one position, further Steve Hayes has said that he will decline any nomination for any position.
Q: What if I have a question not covered in this anticipated FAQ?
A: Send it to pattybach@earthlink.net and she along with a panel of experts will quickly answer it.
Woo-hoo! ACBS is almost official...

ACBS Nominations
Hi Patty,
I know this is really late to making this suggestion, but it might help more current members to make nominations if there was a child page off the main ACBS link http://www.contextualpsychology.org/acbs on the left-hand menu of the Contextual Psychology site.
